Oktoberfest by the Bay 2009 was great!

Well, Oktoberfest by the Bay 2009 has come and gone already... it seems like we just got started!

All in all, the 'fest appeared to be a roaring success: the crowds were at least as big as last year, despite having moved the event across town to Pier 48.

From the band's perspective, we loved it. The new location includes an outdoor beer garden (or, "biergarten", as the Germans would say) that is directly across the building from the stage. This means that there are several open roll-up doors opposite the stage, and that really seems to improve the overall sound (less sound reflection).

We liked the layout inside too. Thanks to the fact that Pier 48 is longer than the Pavilion at Ft. Mason, the organizers were able to set up in such a way that there was more room to move around even when the place was packed with people.

And Pier 48 seems to be much easier to get to than Ft. Mason had been -- the tram and CalTrain are within walking distance, and AT&T Park's Lot A was right outside the building!

We're already looking forward to Oktoberfest by the Bay 2010! The dates aren't set yet, but you'll see them on the Chico Bavarian Band and The Internationals web sites as soon as we have them. I'll be sure to post them here as well.

One Week to Oktoberfest!

It's only one week to the San Francisco Oktoberfest By The Bay!! If you've never been to this event before, put it on your calendar -- you don't want to miss it!

If you have been to Oktoberfest by the Bay before, then be aware of the changes!
  • First of all, the days have changed: the event will run Friday through Sunday (no Thursday festivities this year).
  • Secondly, the location has changed! As mentioned below, the event will be at Pier 48 this year, which is not far from AT&T Park (home of the SF Giants).
Tickets are available online from the Oktoberfest by the Bay web site. More info on the event can be found there as well. And tickets will be available at the door up until the the event sells out -- which is quite likely on Friday night and Saturday, so buy your tickets now!

As with last year's event, Saturday will be split into two sessions; one from 11AM to 5PM, and the second from 6PM to midnight. Buying a ticket for one session will not get you into the other, so choose the one you prefer.

See you at the 'fest!

New SF Oktoberfest Location is Announced!

The new location of the San Francisco Oktoberfest -- also known as "Oktoberfest By The Bay" -- will be Pier 48. The new location is larger than the main pavilion at Ft. Mason, and should serve as an excellent venue for the event.

Pier 48 is in the China Basin area of SF, very close to AT&T Park.

The 'fest will be only 3 days this year, running from Friday evening, October 2nd through Sunday, Oktober 4th.

See you there!

SF Oktoberfest Changes Format on Saturday!

It's almost that time again. Oktoberfest By The Bay will be held in San Francisco's Ft. Mason on October 2nd through the 5th.

And in case you haven't heard, the 'fest will have a slightly different format on Saturday this year.

The hours for Thursday and Friday evenings will remain the same as in previous years. Likewise, Sunday will run during the same hours as years past as well.

But Saturday will be split into two sessions; 11AM to 5PM, and 6PM to Midnight. The event has become so popular that the organizers are trying this approach to try to accommodate as many people as possible.

If you want to purchase tickets for Saturday, you'll have to decide which session you want to attend. If you attend the 11AM to 5PM session, you will have to leave by 5PM so the hall can be made ready for the second session starting at 6PM.

Tickets are available online at oktoberfestbythebay.com. Once tickets are sold out, however, there will be no additional tickets available at the door. So get online now and buy your tickets.

Of course, whether you attend on Thursday, Friday, either session on Saturday, or on Sunday, the Oktoberfest By The Bay is "the" place to be!

See you there.

The Internationals™ at Lugano Swiss Bistro

The Internationals™ will play at Lugano Swiss Bistro in Carmel this Friday, August 1st. If you haven't been to Lugano, treat yourself to a great meal and, of course, some fantastic music this Friday evening.

Reservations are strongly encouraged because Lugano is a small venue and space is limited.

Enjoy!
